The Barclays Kelpies Stud is run by Jamie Barclay a working farm manager and farm contracting business, Barclay Livestock Management Services who has been breeding Working Kelpies for the last 15 years. Our Kelpies are bred to be true all-rounders suitable for all types of stock work. Not only do they have to be good workers but the temperament must be right and we guarantee our Kelpie dogs have great natures for the farm owner or family.
Barclays Kelpies incorporates the Midgbar bloodline which was the name given to Jamie's stud originally and was only changed recently in 2007 to Barclays Kelpies. Kelpie dogs such as Midgbar Harry and Midgbar Moss are still at the stud siring some top working and trial dogs.

At Barclays Kelpies our main objective is to breed a Kelpie dog that will get the job done. They have to be smart, strong, big types, forceful in the yards when needed but reliable enough to know you are not going to lose money due to stock being stressed by an overexcited working Kelpie dog.
We are located in the Central West of NSW as a farm contracting business, Barclay Livestock Management Services that has some challenging terrain for the Kelpies and long days full of varied stock work. As a farm manager Jamie's Kelpies have to work or he doesn't - a simple philosophy. We currently have at stud 7 Dams with 5 up and coming Dams and 6 Sires with 4 up and coming. All breeding Kelpie dogs work as well as having exceptional bloodlines. Throughout the year Kelpie puppies are available for sale and it is recommended you book your Kelpie pup early as they are usually sold before they are born.

We have a clear vision of where we want our working Kelpie dog bloodlines to be and as a result Jamie thoroughly researches the genetics of the Kelpies and has professionally cryogenically frozen stores of stud semen to ensure the integrity of the breed is preserved. Started and Broken in Kelpie dogs are also available and we look forward to finding a suitable Kelpie to meet your needs.
We offer an export service to overseas customers. Currently we have Kelpies in New Zealand, France and the US. Our preferred carrier is Jet Pets and we can make sure all the AQIS paperwork and veterinary needs of your export Kelpie dog is taken care of.
Barclays Kelpies training days
Our training days are very popular and are a great opportunity to get together with other Kelpie owners and learn some new and old techniques. These days are held a few times a year for a small group only so keep and eye out on this page for upcoming dates and book in early. Alternatively with every Kelpie puppy or Kelpie purchased, Jamie will offer you a full day's training and assessment session with you and your Kelpie dog.
